The Last Ride

We sold our snow machine for the move back home.  This weekend we took it out for one last ride.

The snow has started melting on the road.

The beautiful view out my classroom door one morning.

Frost on the trees.

The store was stocked full of Easter baskets.

We picked up some burgers from the Yukon Cafe.

The cafe and the store are right next to each other.

Waiting for the food at the cafe.

Taking the food to go.

Frost covered plants in the mornings.

We went to Emmonak with another teaching couple for one last ride before we sold our machine.

There was a bit of fog on our way out.

With very little snow fall this winter, a lot of ice is exposed on the river.

Some parts of the trail got very narrow.  On this part, we had the lean to the left to keep from tipping over.

The Yukon River bank.

Driving around in the village of Emmonak.

Walking on the boardwalk of the teacher housing.  The teaching couple in this picture have a daughter who teaches in Emmonak.

We wanted to eat at the restaurant in Emmo, but had a couple hours before it opened, so we took our friends to check out Sunshine Bay (an abandoned fish packing plant).

Jim and Nathaniel checking out the buildings.

Nathaniel looking up in the attic.

Old commercial fishing nets.

These tall plants were sticking up everywhere.

A shipping container turned into an apartment.
We peeked inside, but it looks like it is still being used as a hunting cabin, so we left it alone.

This boat was filled with boots, chainsaws, and other random things.

A large barge is still half frozen in the river.

Checking out an old shed.

We found empty gas containers and rusted tools.

Light was shining through these tiny holes.

We searched through this house.  It mostly had trash in it.

Jim found an old pair of snow shoes inside the closet.

An old fashion washing machine.

We ended the visit going to the restaurant for dinner, and then to the store.
