Cross-Country Skiing

After watching the Olympics, and finding some old ski boots left behind, up in our closet, Nathaniel and I got inspired to go out cross-country skiing one day.  We borrowed some skis from the school (that haven't been used in years) in the P.E. closet, and borrowed ski poles from our teacher friends.
We went behind the road, and made our way along a trail heading out to the old airport runway.
The trail was almost all ice, so it was difficult to keep up momentum.

On Friday after school Nathaniel and I went skiing with a friend.  We were a little more adventurous this time.

We followed some moose tracks for a while.

The guys were pretty much this far ahead of me most of the time.
We went out for an hour, and back for an hour.

The fresh snow was much easier to ski on.

A beaver dam.

Woops, where's the pole?

I couldn't resist putting this one up of a fall.  I fell enough times myself.  It's really difficult to get up because your ankles are stuck in the boots, and the boots are stuck to the skis.

We went back on the tundra.

We could clearly see the new school from the tundra.

The white building is the post office.

Back on the road.  We had a good workout, and got plenty of fresh air and sunshine!
